Sub-jr Wushu Natls: Odisha bag 12 medals

A 30-member Odisha squad bagged 12 medals to finish overall third in the 17th Sub-junior National Wushu Championship, which was held at Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu from March 27 to 31, 2018. Haryana emerged overall champions, while host Jammu & Kashmir ended runners-up.

According to a press release by Wushu Association of Orissa today, the medals included one gold, five silver and six bronze. Swetarani Mahanta won the lone gold in girls’ 24kg sanshou category. Among other Odisha girls in sanshou event, Sumitra Munda captured silver in 32kg group, while Malini Munda and Jashoda Purty claimed one bronze each in 20kg and 39kg weight classes respectively.

In sanshou boys events, Bablu Munda (42kg), Sanjib Nayak (45kg) and Krushna Khandayat (48kg) secured one silver each, while Rajkumar Munda (24kg), Krishna Munda (28kg) and Amar Patra (36kg) grabbed one bronze apiece. In taolu event, Kritika Paseri and Ashutosh Maharana pocketed one silver and one bronze in girls and boys categories respectively.
